TACTILE IMPRESSIONS

Tactile Impressions is a series centered on the relationship between pictorial matter and its perception at close range.


Carmen Carbonell approaches the surface as a physical record of gesture, where the accumulation of pigment and materials generates variations in relief, density, and texture.


The series is constructed through an extreme close-up of the work, understanding painting as a skin in which color operates simultaneously as trace and as structure.


Unlike Depths, the focus shifts toward the immediacy of the surface and its haptic qualities.


Through macro photography, the artist isolates fragments in which pigment, relief, and color acquire visual autonomy, revealing a topography in which gesture remains inscribed within the material.



The series proposes a reading of painting as physical presence and perceptual field, in which the work asserts itself through its tactile and structural dimension.
