EMOTIONAL CONNECTIONS

“Emotional Connections” is a painting and photography series that explores the relationship between gesture, emotion, and the construction of the image, understanding painting as a process that activates perception.

Carmen Carbonell builds the surface through successive chromatic layers, generating a visual field in which color, rhythm, and density produce structures in continuous transformation.

The series incorporates an intermediate layer created using dripping and action painting techniques, where the spontaneous gesture introduces chance, gravity, and temporality into the composition.

In contrast to more controlled approaches, the work focuses on the energy of the pictorial act as a bodily expression of impulse and the organization of matter in motion.

Through photography, the artist fragments these compositions, isolating moments in which painting appears as an autonomous trace and a record of intensity.



The series proposes painting as an active perceptual field, where emotion is not represented but experienced through matter and image.
